Wilbert Company Stores
In 2014, Wilbert Funeral Services, Inc. (WFSI) and Suhor Industries, Inc. (SI) merged with Wilbert Funeral Services the surviving entity. At the time of the merger, Suhor was the largest Wilbert Licensee, a majority shareholder, and had been managing WFSI for three years.
Suhor Industries was incorporated on January 20, 1987, after Joe Suhor purchased the assets of Sloan Enterprises, a family-owned company in business since 1933. Sloan operated five Wilbert burial vault plants in Missouri and employed about 160 people.
Dennis Welzenbach soon joined the management team at Suhor as CFO. Over the next 27 years, Joe and Dennis grew and diversified the company through the acquisition of 49 companies including grave digging operations, crematories, casket companies, monument producers, cemetery lettering operations, a wastewater company and septic tank, agricultural and miscellaneous concrete manufacturers. At the time of the merger, SI had more than 600 employees.
